Here is a quick guide of things to consider when selecting a domain name.
- Make sure it is easy to spell.
- Is it as short as possible?
- Make it as generic as possible, but related to your business.
- No spaces, dots (periods), dollar signs or other punctuation besides hyphens are allowed.
- No numbers or misspellings should be used unless this is purposeful and well-considered.
- You should not double-up letters - e.g. travellocationssite.
- It should be easy to remember. Would you remember it if you heard it on the radio or saw it on a billboard for a few seconds?
- .COM is universally recognized and remembered - the Cadillac of extensions. The lesser known (and for that matter lesser remembered) extensions such as .BIZ, .INFO, .US and the like. will take a few more years to be accepted, and even then hard to remember.
